Four Stall Barn Outside

Stall Barns are custom designed depending upon the client’s needs. They can vary in size from a two stall hobby barn with a feed room, tack room and hay storage to a large 44 stall barn with 16’ aisle ways, wash racks, living quarters and hay storage. There are traditional barn designs tailored to meet the needs of various horse types ie: Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Hunter Jumper, Carriage Driving, Dressage and Heavy Horse. We are able to show clients photographs of the various barns that we have built as an aid in deciding which design to choose but most often clients have a clear idea of the basics such as the number of stalls required, barn layout, and location for the barn.

Often Stall Barns are 36’ wide in order to provide stalls that are 12’ deep with a 12’ Aisle way. These barns can have a second storey for hay storage, loft living quarters, and equipment storage. The exterior is clad in coloured steel often with a contrasting trim colour, or of wood in various patterns such as board and batten or shiplap. The doors can be sliding with or without windows, trimmed with steel or wood, or they can be a Dutch door style.

The client is offered many choices: door style: sliding or hinged, frame can be painted (choice of colours) or galvanized; feed doors and removable V doors are also available. Lighting fixtures, fans, ventilation systems, heat lamp units are available options.

Detailed Buildings Ltd. often renovates existing old barns and transforms them into charming stall barns. Our crews can raise ceilings, hammer out and remove old concrete structures, bolster original beams, white wash walls and install custom stalls and aisle ways in order to modernize the original barn but all the while maintaining its character. Decorative exterior features such as porches, a two colour siding and trim combination, lighting, cupolas and weathervanes add a personalized touch to make each barn unique.

Finally, we try to think of every detail in order to make the stall barn functional and attractive. We work with a professional landscape design associate who can provide expert landscaping design and installation of surrounding walkways, trees and gardens, ponds, patios and courtyards.

We can build a “turn key” stall barn so that it looks like it has been there for ages and all the client has to do is move in the horses!
